We believe that baptism is ordination to the Christian ministry. Through baptism, we are called to participate in God's mission to the world through the church. Through baptism we outwardly witness to the inward work of God who cleanses sin and calls into holiness.
A covenant member of First Presbyterian Church gives resources, time, and talent to the furtherance of the gospel in the local church. A First Presbyterian Church member lives out the bible's call to the body of Christ.
One becomes an active member of the church through faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and acceptance of his Lordship in all of life. Baptism and a public profession of faith in Jesus as Lord are the visible signs of entrance into the active membership of First Presbyterian Church.
Persons may enter into active church membership in the following ways: by profession of faith, reaffirmation of faith in Jesus Christ, or transfer of certificate from some other church. |
