At First Presbyterian Church we worship God because it is the appropriate response to our Creator, Redeemer, and Comforter. We believe that all people have an innate desire to worship something. Some people worship objects of their own making such as a car, house, or even another human being. A huge part of our mission is to point worshippers to God and His gift of salvation in Christ. We accomplish this through exuberant, illuminating, and welcoming worship experiences. We rely wholly on the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to accomplish this goal. Therefore we gather to sing, pray, fellowship, and receive God’s Word for us through Scripture and the leading of His Spirit. Our joy is in the Lord and not in ourselves. Our focus is on the Lord and no one else.We trust you will join us for life changing worship each week!
A Note from our Director
As Director of Music, my ultimate goal is to provide a wide variety of musical offerings that will glorify our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, minister to our congregation, and serve as an outreach to the surrounding community.
Our Sunday morning worship services are musically led by the Celebration Singers and Celebration Ringers, as well as by professional guest musicians from the New Castle/Youngstown, OH area. We present three special outreach programs throughout the year – “Come, Christians, Join to Sing” in May, “Inspireworks” – A Concert in Our Parking Lot” in July, and “O Come, All Ye Faithful – A Musical Celebration of Christmas” in December. Worship Participation
We always welcome new choir members who desire to share their love of music and our Lord. My goal is to have our music ministry filled with dedicated, enthusiastic individuals who come together in Christ’s love to bring Him glory not only on Sunday mornings, but throughout the week, and in all areas of our lives.
Our choirs rehearse Wednesday evenings September through June. The Celebration Ringers, our hand bell choir presents special music periodically throughout the year. No music experience is necessary to play hand bells. The only prerequisite is the ability to count to “4.” Ringers rehearse Wednesdays at 6:30 PM.
The Celebration Singers, our chancel choir. The choir leads weekly worship as they sing carefully prepared musical pieces and lead the congregation in all singing. Singers rehearse on Wednesday evenings at 7:30 PM. . |
